Red Meat is not 'bad' for you!

Red meat often gets a bad rap for being “unhealthy,” but that’s not the full story. When you choose lean cuts, red meat can actually be super nutritious!
One of the biggest perks is the high protein content, which is perfect for building and repairing muscle. 💪 It’s also one of the best sources of heme iron. Getting enough iron helps keep your energy levels up and prevents anemia. This is especially important for endurance athletes, pregnant women, and anyone training hard at the gym.
Red meat also packs other key nutrients like zinc (great for your immune system) and vitamin B12, which supports nerve function and most importantly helps your body make healthy red blood cells.
So why do red blood cells matter?
Because they carry oxygen to your muscles. More oxygen = better performance, faster recovery, and result in more gains in the gym. 💪 which can all help you get to the physique that you want!
BUT before you start eating a bunch of steak, not all red meat is created equal....
Cuts like ribeye, wagyu, sausage, or 80% lean ground beef are higher in saturated fat, which we want to keep in check. This is the type of red meat that is often associated with heart disease, strokes, and high blood pressure. Instead, go for leaner options like 93% lean ground beef, top sirloin, tenderloin, or flank steak.
So, no—red meat isn’t “bad.” Like the saying goes, the poison is in the dose. As a general guideline, eating steak a couple of times a week (2–3x) is a good balance.
When eaten in moderation and paired with plenty of fruits, veggies, and whole grains, lean red meat can absolutely be part of a healthy, balanced diet! And of course, always remember to fuel well and lift heavy!
